He Shoots, He Scores!!!

This is Garrett's second year to play basketball. He never really cared about it before so we did not push him (even though we love basketball). Last year he asked to play, so we signed him up. He didn't really get it though. He loves to play "pig" in the driveway, but games were more funny than him actually playing basketball. This year he has really improved so much!! He works with a coach a couple of nights a week that really just works on fundamentals (which is what he needs) and he has learned so much!!! I was worried because we were going for MG and Garrett just kind of started working with the boys his age on his own. The other boys can dribble and shoot and rebound so I thought Garrett would be intimidated, but he just jumped right in there and gives it his best. He doesn't complain that they are better than him, he just tries to do his best. I just cannot describe how much Garrett has learned so far this year! Anyway, the video shows Garrett playing defense, stealing the ball, dribbling in a game, and scoring his first 2 points in a game! We are so proud of him! He has made so much progress in his skill level, but his attitude and effort even though the other boys are so much better than he is just makes my heart happy!

The Furminator

We have a black lab and hardwood floors. I sweep, look down, and there is still dog hair there. It is everywhere. I have been really worried about the dog hair with the new baby. So I did some research and found out the Furminator is by far the favorite to help prevent shedding. So I bought one. These things are not cheap. So The kids and I decided to conduct our own experiment. The website has a picture of a golden with a ton of hair surrounding it. Now Goldens have longer hair than labs, but we thought if we could get hair like that then it was worth it. It was hard to get the before picture. She saw me open the package and Sean was messing with her so she was excited.
So Sean held her down and I brushed, and brushed, and brushed. She had a lot of hair that came out! She loved it! I think she was waiting for her mani and pedi afterward.

I know it looks like Sean in choking her, but he was rubbing her ears and neck, and she was in heaven. It has to feel good to get all that extra hair off. I was still getting hair, but she was not sitting very still so I decided to try to get more tomorrow when we were home alone and she was more calm.
Anyway, experiment was a success. We decided if we scattered the hair out like it was in the photo she would probably have as much hair as the Golden, and we were not done! So the furminator is a success and hopefully worth the money!

Just a Rant

This is just a rant. I just have to get this off my chest.
Why do Christians feel the need to "diagnose" what God does. A horrible tragedy in Haiti, well it was because generations ago they sold their soul to the devil. Really, why do we feel the need to judge why God does something? And why do people feel the need to point out that it is because of sin, has to be because of sin in their lives. God does things that I cannot even begin to fathom the reason, but why jump to punishment?? Maybe your faith is being tested. Maybe it is that turning point in your faith when you chose if you are going to trust God or turn from Him. Why do people feel the need to point out the sin. It is not our job. God will convict you if there is sin in your life you need to take care of. My job is to be there for you to help you through it.

I know that what my family has gone through the past year is nothing compared to the people in Haiti right now, but I know if someone had come to us and told us that God took our son because of sin in our lives it would not have gone over well. It would have taken a devastating time in our lives and made it so much worse. No one could second guess the events of the last year like we have, and someone pointing out things we should have done or things we did not do just makes that worse. I just wish people would think before they open their mouths, is it helpful or is it hurtful? Will it draw people to God, or cause them to turn from Him?
I am not saying I have been perfect in this, but I am trying.

Amazing Sydney Grace

http://amazingsydneygrace.blogspot.com/
Please say a prayer for this family. Sydney Grace was born with Trisomy 18. She was not really even expected to make it through delivery and she is now on day 6. She is struggling though. So I am just asking that you say a prayer for this family and precious little girl.

More Baby Bum Pics

We had another ultrasound of Baby Bum yesterday. It is weird to think we won't see him/her again until birth. I guess we got a little spoiled seeing Evan all the time. The photos of the us pics are not that great, sorry. I just cannot take pics of the us pics worth anything. I played with them a little so hopefully you can see the detail. I swear Sean can take better pics with his iphone than I can with my camera.
The first pic is of the perfect 4 chamber heart. The Aorta is in the right place, all the chambers are the right size, and the heart rate was 173 bpm (that is girl range by far if you believe the old wives tale). I will never tire of looking at that perfect heart beat. Seeing how it is supposed to look, I understand better how different Evan's looked.
The second pic is of the foot. It is a side view with the leg and foot. She switched over to 4d for this. The baby does not have extra fingers or toes, and no rocker bottom feet.
The last pic is of a hand. I know you cannot see the thumb, but it is there. This hand was doing a good job of covering his/her face! She tried hard to get a shot of the face the whole time we were there and the baby just would not let us see his/ her face! Those hands are over the face the whole time!! Even the profile pics you can see the head with the hands over the face! But that is OK. Everything else was perfect and we got reassurance that everything is normal.
Baby Bum does have long femurs (so long legs, wonder where he/she gets that! Ha!) and a big belly, like measuring two weeks ahead ( I know where the big belly comes from also!Ha!). Those were the two parts that measured really big. The baby was 4 or 5 days ahead as a whole. Dr. Laws did show us a chart that had the curve for baby weight at this age and there was a curve for too small, normal, and too big. Our baby was in between the too big and normal, inching more toward the too big. He said that was still perfectly normal, but I was going to have a big baby! They could also see hair on the ultrasound, so all that heartburn is for something!
