I Will Rise

This is a song that was played at Evan's service. Chris Tomlin wrote and sings the song. I have watched videos of him talking about why he wrote the song, and he wrote it for people who were standing over a grave. It is to remind them of the hope that is there. He pretty much wrote the song around the lyric "The grave is overwhelmed." I still cannot hear the song without crying. It is a reminder that there will come a day with no more sorrow and no more pain, and that is something I need to hear right now.

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

Hi, I recently began reading your blog. I realize saying sorry isn't that much, but I am sorry you lost your son. He was indeed a beautiful boy.
The song, I will rise, helps me immensly. I find that in my darkest of times, I can just turn that song on, and my anxiety will wash away. I am glad you have found it. I will be praying for you.

Thank you for the words you wrote. I found you through sweet Stellan's blog. The lyrics of that song bring tears to my eyes, yet fill me with hope, as I have a baby in Heaven who I haven't met yet. I cannot WAIT for that glorious day when we will all be together with our Lord.

I also love this song. When I hear it I think about us rising to heaven to meet Jesus. And I think about those who are dead and their names are written in the book. They will rise first. I will get to see my brother again that day. He died in a car wreck May 11, 2007.
And I will pray for you and your family every time I hear.
